Ohio State University Extension and the USDA-NRCS soil health specialists are working together to improve soil health to improve farm profitability while increasing soil sustainability and improving the environment. Through innovative research, demonstration, and training/extension efforts, Ohio State University Extension and USDA-NRCS soil health specialist are starting a soil health initiative which will emphasize soil health training for farmers, gardeners, urban clientele, and youth groups in all 88 Ohio Counties. Ohio is initiating several new soil health demonstration and research plots to demonstrate the benefits of cover crops and improved soil health.
